In May 1933 she left in the first run as the crab cannery. On May 11, 1933 she run aground at coast of the island Makanrusha (Northern group of the Kuril Islands). By the end of July she was refloated. On July 26, 1933 during heavy weather "Postyshev" again run aground and broke into three parts. |

- dry cargo vessel, built in 1923 in Germany. In the evening on July 2 the steamship "Sima", following in dense fog, run aground on coastal rocks of Onekotan Island. The steamship "Orochon" tried to pull "Sima" from the rocks, but unsuccessfully. Only on July 9, "Sima" slipped from the rocks. As a result of grounding the bottom was seriously damaged, but the vessel under the own steam came to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Because of impossibility of repair of the steamship on the place her bottom in places of damages was filled in with concrete and only at the end of 1939 the vessel was put in waiting list for repair. |

In the afternoon on the third of November, 1946 on the way to Ust-Kamchatsk in a whole gale sea water began to leak inside the fishing seiner No. 15 "Vertlyug". The captain decided to take cover from a storm behind the cape Nizkiy. On the way to the cape the seiner run aground. The engine-room was flooded. Seamen were saved next morning by other vessels. The seiner was lost. |

- fishing seiner, built in 1936 in Japan. On the eighteenth of September, on the way to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the seiner Avacha got to a heavy storm. In the engine-room a leak appeared. On the nineteenth of September at 01:40 main engine stopped. In the morning a list of the vessel reached 25 degrees and continued to increase, and at 12:10 the seiner sank. Seamen got over in the working boat and the raft fabricated from empty barrels. In the evening the whaler "Trudfront" rescued 15 of 17 being onboard of "Avacha" seamen. Two seamen lost the lives in this accident. |

In several hours it was flooded because pumps could not to pump out so large quantity of water. Cargo vessel "Indigirka" took the trawler on tow and turn to Spitsbergen islands. But water leaked to aft spaces and "Karp" sank. All crew members were picked up by "Indigirka". |

port of registry - Kaliningrad. On February 28, 1967 in heavy storm, about 02.30 was found sea water in propeller shaft tunnel. To all appearance hatches, doors or vent ducts on the stern part of the trawler "Tukan" were loosen or hull was cracked, and water went inside the vessel. Very quickly fish processing and fish meal factories were flooded. At 04.42 was sent distress call and at 04.50 "Tukan" foundered about 15 miles west of Hanstholm Lighthouse on the northwest coast of the Denmark in lat. 57°18'N, long. 08°23'E. Soviet fish processing vessel "Vilis Lacis" saved 22 seamen, but one of them died on board. 57 seamen lost they lives together with vessel. Only 47 bodies were found next days. |

Soviet vessel "Altay" moored alongside the "Baltika" and unloaded cargo from liking cargo hold. Also holes in the hull were patched. In several days water was pumped out and on December 2, the vessel pulled from rocks and towed to Kaliningrad. |

IMO:5230167, port of registry - Murmansk. While fishing in Labrador Sea On May 18, 1968 at 04.05 in main switchboard of trawler "Mayakovsky" occured short circuit and broke out a fire. Fire very fast spread over all engine room. Engine room was sealed and at 04.30 steam-smothering system was activated. It seemed that a fire went out but at 04.55 explosion happened. At 05.30 another explosion happened and a fire broke out in the vesselS accommodation. All crew left the vessel on life boats and life raft. Ablaze trawler was towed to one of labrador islands. Several days later emergency squad began to pump out water from engine room but list of the vessel began to increase. When list reached 40 degrees emergency squad left the trawler and "Mayakovsky" foundered with large port side list and aft trim. |

On June, 11, 1973 while fishing in Southeast Atlantic, in 90 miles from port Uolfish-Bej, at 02.37 (time local) trawler "Slavsk" collided with cuban freezer trawler "Playa Colorada". Left board of the ship in area of an engine room (50-th... 64-th frames) under a corner almost 90 degrees has been rammed. As a result of impact "Slavsk" received significant damages to area of engine room and a superstructure: length of a hole on a superstructure of 10 m, on boat deck - 5.25 m, on the main deck - 2 m, the height of a hole - 11.5 m, the bottom edge of a hole on 1.6 m is lower than a waterline, depth of damages on a superstructure - 4 m, on boat deck - 3 m, on the main deck - 2 m. Through a hole water almost instantly flooded engine room, distributed to fish factory and fish meal plant. At 04.00 emergency squad from trawler "Kazan" patched a hole. However it was not provide closing up of hole as the size of patch was insufficient for overlapping a underwater part of a hole. Crew of the trawler together with emergency groups of other ships disconnected the flooded parts of electric systems and started the emergency diesel generator and provided lighting of vessel and work of the most necessary mechanisms. At 06.30 to the right board of "Slavsk" moored trawler "Volkhovstroy" and Slavsk" recieved electropumps collected from ships in area of disaster. It was started pumping out of water from fish factory and fish meal plant. At 19.25 from port Walvis Bay arrived tag "Kempbell" and started pumping out water from engine room. On June, 12 at 1109 trawler "Argun" in support trawlers "Volkhovstroy", "Porechie" and "Kayra" started towage of "Slavsk" to port Walvis Bay with a speed 2...3 kn. At 10.50 "Slavsk" dropped anchor on internal road of port Walvis Bay where the overload of frozen fish was started. Damaged underwater part was permanently welded and above-water parts closed up with canvas and boards. At 18.20 on July, 17 trawler "Porechie" started towage of "Slavsk" to port Kaliningrad. |

The Russian motor stern trawling factory ship "15 Syezd VLKSM", registered at the Soviet Far Eastern port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, sank following a collision in dense fog with the Russian stern trawling factory ship "Nakhodka" off the Oregon coast about 25 miles south-west of Heceta Head on July 13, 1973. registry - Kaliningrad. Seiner RS-5271 "Yastreb" followed from the bay Taga-Lakht, Saarema island, The Baltic Sea. Strong wave hit the vessel. Seiner got a list and crew found out a hole in the hull. RS-5271 "Yastreb" began sinking. All crew members moved to life raft and later were saved by vessel RMS-1529 but one seaman was lost in attempt to climb the RMS-1529. |

7384522, built in 1974 at Gdansk, Soviet flag. Factory vessel "Berezina" was engulfed by a fire that broke out in one of crew cabins in the early hours on January 29, 1975. At 1600 (local time) 30 crew members were evacuated on board of trawler "Kapitan Demidov". Extinguishing of fire does not give effect, the gale blew out fire. At 19.00 dangerous list appeared. Fish carrier "Otto Grotevohl" try to tow ablaze vessel but towing rope repeatedly broke. Only on January 31 attempt to start towage became successful. The vessel was towed to Faеroe Islands. Ten lives of seamen were lost. |

built in 1971 at Khabarovsk, Soviet flag. "Cherdyn" sank following an explosion. Vessel pulled out a trawl aboard and found unidentified rusted metal object. Captain decided to throw out from trawl this object. But when the unidentified object fall out it detonated. Starboard was heavy damaged and cargo hold #2 filled up with water. Vessel sank less then 1 hour. All crew was rescued by trawler "Ratkovo". |

During the night of June 17-18, 1975, while at Bijela, Yugoslavia, for repairs, the Russian motor fish carrier "Shkval" was heavily damaged by a fire. The blazing vessel was towed out of port and beached, with her afterpart submerged and the engine-room and superstructure gutted. Kaliningrad, IMO: 5301746, On October 9, 1978, at 06.57 (local time) near island Bornholm in Baltic Sea in a fog cargo vessel "Nordmark" with speed about 15 kn hit the factory vessel "Rudnyy" under corner 140 degrees in area of cargo hold #2. After collision vessel "Nordmark" disappeared. Cargo hold #2 was right away flooded, and the vessel heeled on 10 degrees. At 07.35 crew put two patches on place of damage. By 10.00 list increased to 25 degrees. By 12.25 list increased to 32 degrees and water ingress at holds #2 and 3 was found. Owner of the vessel decided to transfer all crew to another vessels and to run aground damaged vessel. At 13.20 vessel started moving to shore with speed about 6 kn. All crew except six officer was evacuateed. At 16.18 "Rudnyy" ran aground near lighthouse Sandhammaren with list 34 degrees. By 12 October pumping out of water from holds #1 and 3 was finished and at 15.27 vessel pulled out from ground. Tug "Gordyy" started towing of "Rudnyy". On 13 October, at 22.50 vessel berthed at Kaliningrad with list 7 degrees. On 14 October "Rudnyy" was docked. |

About 30 minutes later she damage her hull against underwater rocks. Water began to flood the engine room quickly. Several hours later it was decided to beached the trawler. The tug "Smelyy" pushed "Severomorskiy Komsomolets" to a beach on 16.55 but tide flooded the vessel. |

1969, port of registry - Riga. "SLAVNYY" - "Steregushchiy" type rescue tug, IMO: 5331818, Yard No. 198, built in 1960, port of registry - Kaliningrad. On January 01, 1979 while in tow by tugs "Vilnis" and "Slavnyy" from Goteborg to Riga fish carrier "Ostrov Sibiryakova" and also tug "Slavnyy" run aground in rough weather near south-eastern Sweden. 57 crew members from both vessels was evacuated by swedish helicopters. On board of fish carrier remained only four persons. During inspection were found that cargo hold #3, both deep tanks, all double bottom tanks and also pipe tunnel were flooded. But after intensive works leaks in the hold #3 were removed and on January 17 started refloating of the vessel. Only on January 20 "Ostrov Sibiryakova" with help of five tugs was pulled out from the shore. On January 25 she anchored in Klaipeda. Concerning, the tug "Slavnyy" it was declared a constructive total loss of the ship. |

Paryskiej, Gdynia, 647, 59.24 x 9.02 x 4.91 metres. All 39 men on board the Russian steam trawler "Metrostroy" lost their lives when their vessel disappeared during a blizzard in the Barents Sea about 55 miles east of Vardo, far north-eastern Norway, on February 4, 1979. The frozen bodies of two were located on a raft seven miles east of Vardo late the following day, but no trace was ever found of the other 37. Then, about seven weeks later, an oil slick blanketed over 60 miles of coastline in Varangerfjord, killing more than 10,000 sea birds. The oil was believed to have come from the fuel tanks of the "Metrostroy", as fish crates marked with the vesselS name were discovered amongst the dead birds and globules of oil on March 24. Some cargos, fuel and water were transferred to other vessels and she was refloated on July 08. As a result of accident she got 5 big dents with length from 3 to 20 m. |

715, built in 1967 in USSR, port of registry - Vladivostok. On June 19, 1981, mother ship "Aleksandr Kosarev" was on her way from port Yuzhno-Kurilsk towards Spanberg sound. At 05.39 (local time) she run aground a bank in Spanberg sound. Only on July 01, "Aleksandr Kosarev" was pulled out from the bank and towed to Yuzhno-Kurilsk. Several day later she was towed to Vladivostok. As a result of grounding - 38 tanks and void spaces were holed, one cargo hold flooded. Never again put into operation. |

IMO: 7044550, port of registry - Nakhodka. While fishing in Bering Sea "Armaturshchik" collided with trawler "Dubno". Underwater hull in engine room area was holed. Despite help of other trawlers "Armaturshchik" foundered in 3 hours in lat. 60°05'N, long. 178°59'E. |

IMO: 7040231, port of registry - Kaliningrad. On September 7, 1981 SRTR-9074 "Oleniy" were waiting for the turn to unload fish on a mother ship. Early morning was found a light list. Attempt to level a list was not successful. The list continued to increase. In 40 minutes the order to leave the vessel was given. The crew of the trawler got over to life rafts. Their were saved by the trawler SRTR-9019 "Okhta". Soon SRTR-9074 "Oleniy" capsized and sank. |
10.09.1981 - | "NOVOKACHALINSK" - type "Atlantik
Supertrawler", IMO: 8031287, Yard No. 513, built in 1980,
Soviet flag, port of registry - Korsakov. On September 10, 1981, soviet nuclear powered submarine "K-45" (design 659T, 8 torpedo tubes, 20 torpedoes on board, crew 120) collided with trawler "Novokachalinsk". In a board of trawler the big hole was formed, and submarine got strong damage of fore body parts. After collision "Novokachalinsk" went to dry dock in Vladivostok where fire occurred in the engine-room, two or three crew member died. Trawler has not been restored after fire. |
04.05.1982 - | "ALEKSANDR OBUKHOV"

built in 1962, IMO: 5400396, port of registry - Vladivostok. While berthed at the home port Vladivostok mother ship "Aleksandr Obukhov" capsized following wrong ballast operations. As commission has then found out, the reason of tragedy became bad pipe plug, on firefighting system in hold. Pipe plug was damaged and sea water began to fill a hold. The list of the ship appeared. The second engineer instead of finding out the reason of the list, started to pump water as a ballast in one of rooms for liquid cargo. A vessel suddenly capsized and rested by masts against a ground. 8 crew members died. Later ship was refloated and broken up in 1986. |

While en route from the Black Sea to Atlantic Ocean fishing grounds, the Russian motor stern trawling fish factory "Zheleznovodsk" sank following a collision in dense fog with the Chinese motor vessel "Jian De" east of Gibraltar in lat. 36°10'N, long. 04°35'W, on October 16, 1982. There was no loss of life from her large crew of 80, who were all safely picked up by a Polish vessel, which then transferred them to a Russian fish carrier. They were all landed at Gibraltar. registry - Vladivostok. On October 21, 1981 near Vladivostok "Refrigerator No.13" collided with soviet submarine "C-178" (design 613B, 6 torpedo tubes, 12 torpedoes on board, crew 56). Submarine sank in 40 seconds after collision. 32 crew members from "C-178" died. |

16.04.1983 - | "KHRUSTAL"
- "Mayakovsky" type trawler, Yard No.862, built in 1963,
IMO: 5412088, port of registry - Kaliningrad. While fishing in the Norway Sea onboard the trawler "Khrustal" a fire broke out. All attemps to extinguish the fire were without success. Crew abandon the vessel. Three seamen died for various reasons. "Khrustal" was towed to Svetlyy (USSR). Due to big damage (cargo holds and engine room burned down) the vessel was towed to scrap yard in 1984. |
20.06.1983 - | "ORION"
- "Tropik" type trawler, Yard No.7020, built in 1963, IMO:
6408967, port of registry - Kaliningrad. On June 6, 1983, trawler "Orion" while fishing at coast of Africa as a result of a rough navigating mistake at 21.08 (time local) ran aground at speed 8 kn. At 21.18 left anchor was dropped and attempt was undertaken to refloat at full speed back, but the vessel has not moved from a place. At 21.26 were revealed water leak in steering gear room. At 21.37 have found out, that a rudder has jammed under a corner 20 degrees the left board. At 21.45 have found out water leak in a fish meal plant compartement. From 21.50 up to 22.50 again worked with main engine from "Stop" up to " Full back ", but a vessel from a place has not moved and at 22.50 have finally stopped the main engine. At about 23.00 on July, 20 in area of disaster came trawlers "Persey", Saturn", "Zaraysk" same type with "Orion". By the end of day on July, 21 a vessel continued to remain aground with a list 16 degrees on the left board. There was an insignificant water leak in ER through the connections of pipelines weakened as a result of strong impacts of a vessel about a ground. As a result of water leak in ER have been flooded the diesel generator No1. Bilge pump in ER could not pump water because of a significant list. As a result of clogging of sea chests with sand, it was impossible to use of the main engine. From July 24 till July 31 attempts to refloat of the trawler by efforts fish carrier "Leninskie Gory", trawlers "Persey" and "Zaraysk" were made but towing rope repeatedly broke. "Orion" have been refloated only on August 21. After diving inspection towed to port Luanda where then up to the end of contract "Orion" used only for processing the fish and broken up in 1984. |

On december 15, 1983, at 22.07 (local time) steam fish factory vessel "Sovetskaya Kamchatka" was gutted by a fire that was started by drunken crewmen in one of cabins. Fire was extinguished only at the middle of the next day. 12 crew members were lost. |

registry - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. On december 24, 1983, at 8.07 "Gomel" cracked a hull due to heay wind caused numerous collisions with a berth. Sea water poured to engine room. At 8.15 the vessel was holed in area between engine room and cargo hold. At 8.35 crew abandoned "Gomel" and at 9.05 aft part of the vessel foundered. "Gomel" was refloated on January 14 and towed to scrap yard. |

22.08.1984 - | "BUREVESTNIK" - "Tavriya" type fish
processing vessel, Yard No.32, built in 1962, IMO: 6800189,
port of registry - Riga. Factory vessel "Burevestnik" was anchored on the road of Liepaya when motor vessel "Akademik Shukhov" at 11.08 hit left side with speed 18 kn. At left board of the ship in area of cargo hold #2 appeared a hole with length 6.2m, height 8m and width 9.5m, and hold #2 was right away flooded, and the vessel heeled on 8 degrees. At 13.46 to the right board moored soviet naval fire boat "PZHK-415" from which "Burevestnik" recieved five ejector pumps. At 14.10 water leaks was found at cargo hold #1. At 14.22 was decided to transfer all crew to another vessel and to run aground damaged vessel (list of the vessel 19 degrees at that moment). At 17.25 vessel ran aground. By the time of grounding list of the vessel became 25 degrees, but after grounding list decreased to 6 degrees, also all 3 cargo holds were flooded. On august 25 heavy gale started. All major works were stopped until 7 september. On 5 september was put patch on place of damage. On 7 september water from tweendecks #1,2,3 was pumped out. At 17.47 the vessel floated with list 14 degrees. After dewatering of cargo holds on 9 september "Burevestnik" was docked with list 6 degrees. |

At 04.45 the vessel moored at fishing port. In firefighting operation took place shore firefighting brigade and four salvage vessels. On first January two men lost and several seriously suffered. Fire was extinguished around 19.00 on 2 January. |

On December 26, 1986 in engine room of "Primorsk" an explosion occured. The vessel was heavily damaged and one crew member died 3 days later in hospital due to extensive burns. |

IMO: 6415805, port of registry - Murmansk. In 80s trawler "Mongoliya" was handed to fish factory located in village Dikson. In 1987 she was grounded near Dikson. Two attemps to refloat vessel were without success. From wreck only pumped out fuel bunker. |

vessel in 1985), Yard No.841, built in 1956, IMO: 5414684,
port of registry - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. On January 27, 1988, a fire blazed up in one of cargo holds of fish factory "Tauysk" in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Fire spread to adjacent cargo holds. Vessel took a lot of water during firefighting and on January 27 foundered at a berth with a list 41°. "Tauysk" never put into operation again. |

The 16-year-old Russian motor stern-trawling fish factory "Mys Bobrova" sank in the Bering Sea on April 3, 1988, after becoming stuck in ice, which pierced her hull, causing water to gush into her engine-room. 7032521, Yard No. 995, built in 1968, port of registry -
Nakhodka. To take cover from bad weather freezer trawler "Nadezhdinsk" came into the bay Glubokaya where she ran aground. The hull of "Nadezhdinsk" was seriously damaged and it was not succeeded to refloat the vessel. |
09.12.1988 - | "ZA RODINU" - "Vasiliy Yakovenko"
type freezer trawler, project 502EM, Yard No. 1388, built in
1974 in USSR, IMO: 7642429, port of registry - Kaliningrad. Trawler "Za Rodinu" was following from Baltiysk to fishing area when Soviet navy vessel SKR-769 hit the trawler. The hull of the vessel was holed in the area of engine room. "Za Rodinu" foundered in lat. 55°22'N, long. 19°43'E. All crew members were picked up by the navy vessel. |
06.09.1989 - | "LADUSHKIN"
Russian, motor fishing vessel, USSR - Zapryba, 1972, USSR,
180 grt, 31.60 x 7.35 x 2.84. All 15 of the crew lost their lives as a consequence of their vessel, the 17-year-old Russian motor fishing vessel "Ladushkin", sinking in the Baltic Sea off Gotland Island in lat. 56°33'N, long. 17°45'30"E, at 00.11 on September 6, 1989, within minutes of a collision with the 6,060 dwt Finnish motor tanker "Tebostar". One of the all-Russian crew, the radio operator, was rushed to hospital in Kalmar, Sweden, but died soon after arriving, while the 14 others remained missing, presumed to have drowned. The master of the tanker reported that he was trying to avoid another of the 14 Russian fishing vessels in the area at the time when the collision occurred. 08.12.1989 - | "VITAUTAS PUTNA" Russian, motor-stern

grt, 84.69 x 14.03 x 5.70. On December 8, 1989, while bound for Klaipeda from fishing grounds, a fire broke out on board the 24-year-old Russian motor stern-trawling fish factory "Vitautas Putna" in the Bay of Biscay in approximately lat. 45°04'N, long. 08°09'W. Her 80 surviving crew members were rescued by two merchant vessels, which later transferred them all to the ro-ro motor vessel Petr Masherou. Two others died. With a 30-degree list the "Vitautas Putna" was towed into Brest on December 13 by the motor salvage tug "Gordyy", following which the water that had been used to extinguish the blaze was pumped out. The"Gordyy" then sailed from Brest nine days later towing the casualty to Klaipeda. Due to the severity of the damage sustained, the "Vitautas Putna" was sold to Spanish shipbreakers and scrapped at Baracaldo in July, 1991. (from Maritime Casualties 1963-1996 by N.Hooke) |
30.01.1990 - | "NEVODSKOYE"
- "Nadyozhnyy" type seiner-trawler, project 420, IMO:
8730211, Yard No. 1268, built in 1989, port of registry -
Nevelsk. In January 1990, in the Sea of Okhotsk fish processing mother ship "Vladivostok" hit the seiner-trawler "Nevodskoye". Through a hole water flooded engine rooms, the vessel got a large list and was deenergized. Most of a crew left "Nevodskoye". With assistance of the sister ship "Zavety Ilicha" damaged trawler was moored alongside of "Vladivostok". Several submerged pumps were transferred to "Nevodskoye", but pumps could not pumped out so large quantity of water and 14 hours later damaged vessel sank in lat. 54°37'N, long. 147°13'E. |
07.10.1990 - | "DEMYANSK"
- fishing seiner, project 388M, IMO: 7430876, Yard No. 69,
built in 1974. On October 7, 1990 seiner "Demyansk" was waiting for processing vessel with seine net full of fish. She took a list, capsized and foundered in lat. 43°02'N, long. 132°07'E. All crew members were rescued by other vessels. |
1990 - | "REPINO"
- "Nadyozhnyy" type seiner-trawler, project 420, IMO:
8725888, Yard No. 1252, built in 1987, port of registry -
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Seiner-trawler "Repino" sank in the Nakhodka bay after collision with another vessel. All crew members were rescued. Later the vessel was lifted by float cranes and scrapped. |

"MRTK-1079"
- "Baltika" type trawler, IMO: 8226337, Yard No. 653, built
in 1983, port of registry - Kaliningrad. On August 28, 1991 trawler "MRTK-1079" was fishing in the Baltic Sea. Main engine stopped after propeller got entangled in net. Next morning sister vessel "MRTK-1083" took "MRTK-1079" on tow, but less then 1 hour "MRTK-1079" ran aground. On September 4, tug "SB-921" pulled off "MRTK-1079" but soon she foundered in lat. 54°57'N, long. 19°49'E. |

x 13.24 x 7.01. The 25-year-old Russian motor stern-trawling fish factory "Kartli" began to take on water after being struck in the wheelhouse by a huge wave in what were generally gale force 8 weather conditions and heavy seas off the west coast of Scotland in lat. 55°42'N, long. 06°46'W, on December 18, 1991. Of the 51 crew on board, 47 were safely rescued in a six-hour operation involving helicopters, but four, including the second mate and helmsman who were struck by the wave, died. The "Kartli", which was loaded with 400 tonnes of frozen fish, subsequently ran aground on the north-west corner of Gigha Island in lat. 55°42N, long. 05°45W, her engine-room flooded, with extensive damage to her bottom. Some pollution caused by leaking fuel oil was reported.
