 "Kruzenshtern" is 4-masted steel barque. She was built in 1926 as a cargo ship. In 1946 she was given to the Soviet Union as war reparation. She was converted into a sail training vessel of the Soviet Navy and renamed "Kruzenshtern". Till 1965 she also used for missions of the Hydrographic Department of the Soviet Navy. From 1965 "Kruzenshtern" used as a training ship under the civil ownership of the Ministry of Fisheries with port of registry Riga. From 1968 to 1972 modernisation took place. In 1981 she was transferred to  "Estonian Fisheries Industry" at Tallinn, Estonia. After the declaration of independence of Estonia in 1991, she was transferred to Kaliningrad, Russia.
