 The vessel was built in Japan as a cargo vessel "Eastern Pilot"  in 1920. The vessel was operated under the Soviet flag since 1930. In 1931 she was converted to crab cannery. In 1944 she was left in the USA due to unsatisfactory technical condition. In total it were constructed 3 vessels of this type.
